China's  (SPP) selected 26 women to feature on a 44-person list of national role model at an awards ceremony in Beijing on November 27.

The event was organized to mark the 40th anniversary of the re-establishment of the SPP and honor outstanding prosecutors nationwide.

In addition, 44 female prosecutors were jointly presented with first-class merit awards at the gathering.

Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, attended the conference and gave a speech.

Guo emphasized that procuratorates across the country should handle the relationship between the Party's leadership and the execution of their rights with an emphasis on independence and fairness.

They should also stick to and improve the socialist procuratorial system with Chinese characteristics; remain true to their original aspirations; protect the legal rights and interests of all sides concerned; resolve prominent problems facing the public; and, better serve social and economic development.

Zhang Jun, China's top prosecutor and secretary of the SPP Party Committee, presided over the meeting.

Li Hua is a grassroots prosecutor from the city of Shaowu in southeast China's Fujian Province. She has been working on the frontlines of public prosecution, supervision and handling cases for more than 24 years.

Speaking at the sidelines of the awards ceremony, Li pledged that she would fulfill her duties wholeheartedly, ensure the public maintain a feeling of equity, fairness and warmth in the prosecution of every case, and live up to her mission in the new era.
